Four steps

What happens after you submit the form

The short answer

Your details go to up to three Singapore disposal businesses, and each may reply with an itemised quotation you can decline.

Carscrap is not a scrap car dealer and makes no submissions to the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

The formula

How much will I get if I scrap my car in Singapore

The short answer

You receive the PARF and COE rebates your car qualifies for plus the buyer’s body or export value, minus loan settlement, towing and fees. Rebates stay valid 12 months from deregistration.

SCENARIO E
  • PARF GOV $24,000
  • COE rebate GOV $5,000
  • Body value BUYER $2,000

Line by line

How much can I scrap my old car for: reading a quotation line by line

The short answer

Split the quote into government lines and buyer lines; only the buyer lines are what the business really pays. In Scenario E, that is $2,000 of $31,000.

Cohorts

Why there is no single current scrap price in Singapore

The short answer

Most of the money is a rebate from your own ARF, COE cohort and unused months, so no flat price fits scrap cars in Singapore. Start with a scrap car valuation calculator.

  • PARF GOV $60,000

Proof

Handing over the keys is not completion: the evidence to ask for with any quote

The short answer

You are done when LTA accepts the disposal documents, due within 1 month of deregistration under current law. Failing to dispose risks a $2,000 fine or 3 months.

A Bill would shorten this to 14 days. Proposed, not yet in force as of 14 September 2026.

Recourse

If a quoted amount is not paid

Small Claims Tribunals hear unpaid scrap disputes up to $20,000, not every disputed PARF (E20)

The Small Claims Tribunals hear claims up to $20,000, or $30,000 with a Memorandum of Consent, filed within 2 years against a Singapore respondent. A claim may not be split to fit the limit. Keep the written quotation, because it is the document a claim rests on.

Most unpaid body-value or rebate disputes fit, but a disputed PARF above $30,000 does not unless you abandon the excess. The tribunal decides whether a scrap deal is a sale of goods; this is general guidance, not legal advice.

  • Get the itemised quotation in writing before handover.

CaseTrust-SVTA accreditation is recourse on a sale, not proof of lawful disposal (E21)

According to the CASE scheme page, CaseTrust-SVTA carries a bond capped at S$50,000 that appears to pay only after a dispute is adjudicated at MIDReC in the consumer’s favour. The decision binds the business only if the consumer accepts it.

LTA still makes proper disposal the owner’s responsibility. Whether a disposal sale to a dealer is covered is not stated and would need confirming with CASE. Treat accreditation as possible recourse on a sale contract, not as an appointment by LTA or evidence that a disposal was done lawfully.

Disclosure

How Carscrap is paid, and what that fee does not change

Businesses may pay a fee per enquiry; it never changes this guidance. Under the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) notice, three businesses at most see your details.

Answers first

Scrap car quote questions

How much will I get if I scrap my car in Singapore?

Rebates plus body or export value, less settlement, towing and fees.

What is the minimum scrap value of a car?

With no PARF and an expired COE, only body value remains.

Why can two quotes for the same model differ so much?

PARF depends on the COE cohort: $60,000 versus $24,000 at the same $80,000 net ARF (hypothetical illustration).

Who receives my details when I ask for a quote?

Up to three disposal businesses; kept 180 days.

What should an itemised scrap car quote include?

PARF, COE rebate, buyer value, settlement, towing and fees on separate lines.

Can I get a quote if my car still has a loan?

Yes. Settlement becomes its own deduction line.

Can I compare an export quote with a scrap quote directly?

Only line by line: export within 2 years caps the COE rebate at 80% of QP.

What can I do if a buyer does not pay the body value or rebate it quoted?

Claims up to $20,000 ($30,000 by consent) can go to the Small Claims Tribunals within 2 years.

Does a dealer’s scheme accreditation mean my car was disposed of lawfully?

No. CaseTrust-SVTA is recourse on a sale, with a bond capped at S$50,000.

Why doesn’t Carscrap ask for my NRIC or bank details?

A quotation does not need them.
